Gender is a hot-button issue this year. The UN Food and Agriculture's annual State of Food and Agriculture, released this past March, focused on gender issues. Basically, the premise behind much of the discussion is that women, when provided equal access to training, technology, education, financial and technical resources, will not only produce more food, but make considerable strides towards alleviating hunger and poverty.
