My Munchable Soapbox: EnGendering Farming

It's interesting. Many of the young or aspiring farmers and even market helpers that I know are female. And according to the US Department of Agriculture, the number of women farmers are indeed growing, particularly in the small-scale part-time and livestock realms. Now, perhaps this is just a product of increasing numbers of women in the workforce in conjunction with poor job prospects for the young and starry-eyed. Regardless, I wanted to point people toward a really nifty Grist article on women farmers.
